We care about the environment

Sustainability is important to Ookami. That is why we ensure that our product collection contains at least 70% organic or recycled materials, or a mix of these materials. Ookami works with on-demand suppliers, we only produce items we get an order for, avoiding textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partner’s high-quality printing tech creates almost no wastewaters and uses less energy than standard industry printers. Not just that but the inks we use for printing are Oeko-Tex™ certified, vegan, water-based, and free of harmful chemicals.

Each product* you see in our catalogue is made-on-demand, which means once you place the order, we start working to get it to you. It takes time for us to create and send out the product, but making each order on-demand allows us to avoid overproduction. This way we get to take care of you and the planet we all share. For handmade pet products we use leftover materials scraps that would remain unused or thrown away. Some of them we source from thrift stores or old clothing destined for the trash. For the materials we do have to buy, we ensure as much as possible they are eco-friendly.

Meet our team

Soren

I’m an illustrator and animal enthusiast. I combined my two passions into one to create my own webshop Ōkami (pronounced Ookami). The name of the webshop translates to “wolf” in Japanese because wolves are my favourite animals.

My goal is to create wonderful portraits of people’s pets that capture their character. I want to get to know the pet I’m drawing. Are they serious, cute, energetic or laid back? What are some of their quirks? That way I can put a little of your pet’s personality into the artwork.

I also offer products for animal lovers such as t-shirts, mugs, totes, stickers, and other accessories for you, a relative, or a friend to enjoy. The perfect gift for someone you care about who also loves animals.

Zack

I’m Zack, the fluffiest floofer. I am a rescue dog who was adopted by Soren and serve as the inspiration for him to create all of the wonderful pet products you can see on this website.

My favourite pastimes include going for long walks, being brushed (but I hate to be bathed), chewing my rawhide bones, and sleeping under Soren’s desk while he works.

Lynx

a.k.a. the baby. I’m a mischievous little kitten who loves to pester her big brother Zack, and help Soren with his art, although he doesn’t appreciate when I lay on his drawing tablet. I can usually be found creating chaos around the house, and running wild until I’m tired and then want on Soren’s lap.

I’m also great at shredding paper with my little pointy
teeth. Sometimes I accidentally shred something I’m not supposed to though.

Together with Zack, we keep Soren on his toes and ensure he takes regular breaks while he’s working.
